一つ一つ表情の違う花びらのようなケシパール、作る度に写真を撮り直しています。
そして撮る度にパールやクリスタルの撮影の難しさを感じます。
いつも自然光のもとで行っているのですが、時間帯や天気による影響が一番出やすいように感じます。光が反射し過ぎるのも、またその輝きが伝わりきらないのも、どちらも避けたい。
アクセサリーを販売用に撮影するに当たって大切なのは正確に現物を捉えること。自分の世界観、そのアクセサリーに込めた思いを少しでも表現すること。その両方だと私は考えています。
私の使っている一眼レフは10年以上前のもの、父のお下がりです。撮影場所はリビングのソファの上。反射板など特殊な道具は何も使っていません。
そろそろカメラを買い替え、念願の写真教室にも通いたいと思っているところです。
そうしたらこのカメラは娘にあげようかな。

Keshi Pearl Earrings
I have made another one of the keshi pearl earrings to list in my shops. (Etsy shop here)
Because each pearl is very unique, I retake the pictures every time I make them. And every time I take them, I feel that pearls and crystals are the most challenging.
I always take them under natural light, but they are easily effected by the time of day or weather. You don't want the light shining off too much, but you still want to capture that lustrous shine. Of course, you can edit them afterwards, but I want to minimize that process as much as I can.
What I feel is most important in taking pictures of your jewelry to sell, is to take them accurately, so that your customer knows what they are purchasing. Yet at the same time, you want to express your creativity, the atmosphere that surrounds that piece you have created with your own hands.
My DSLR is more than 10 years old, a hand-me-down from my father. I take my pictures on my sofa in the living room without any special props except for the fabric I lay underneath and a cup or glass. I have never taken any photography lessons, but hope to in the near future along with buying a new camera.
Yes, a new model may let you take better pictures technically, but will not guarantee you that 100%. What is essential is "how" you take the picture, along with the effort to learn with every shoot. And you don't need an expensive camera to do that.
